At this point, I transitioned from being an intern to the Media Manager at CAAPS (Conference of Asian American Professionals). Alongside event coordination, I led the media campaign for the organization’s annual gala which is a project centered around telling the story of immigrant resilience within the AAPI community, including Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese, Hmong, and many more.

Inspired by the theme “Resilient – Persistent – Growth,” I took the initial prompt from our leadership team and turned it into a full production from writing the script, recording voiceovers with our selected voice actor, and editing the final video using stock footage and original visuals with my coworker, Kristian. The short documentary premiered during the gala and deeply moved the audience. Many were emotional and in tears as it played.
We also captured event highlights, photos, and short clips throughout the night. It was an incredibly meaningful experience that blended storytelling, culture, and emotion and marked our first short documentary project as a media team.
